Senator Peter Welch, a Vermont Democrat, on Monday accused President Biden’s marketing campaign of diminishing considerations inside the celebration about Mr. Biden’s age and acuity, questions that he stated had been truthful sport after the president’s struggles in Thursday’s debate towards former President Donald J. Trump.

Mr. Welch stated that Democrats had an “existential duty” to defeat Mr. Trump in November.
“Passivity will not be the response that’s going to work for us,” he stated. “All of us need to be self-conscious.”
He continued: “All of us need to be acutely conscious that our obligation is to the nation, much more than the celebration.”
